slkclkslrbenz is correct - i saw Ian Paice at a Paiste cymbal clinic in Leeds, UK, 20+ years ago - he said that the only time he used a double bass was for the intro to Fireball - and it was to accent notes, not to double-up notes (he could play them fast enough with one bass). He then proceeded to play the intro (with one bass). Awesome drummer - he's been there and got the T-shirt.

Tens1son, you are wrong. You said that Paice played fireball with one pedal. No, fireball is the only song that Ian used a double pedal. Anyway, he is an awesome drummer.
